Using capitol letters in emails and social posts is unfortunately a common practice.  Using all capital letters in electronic communication is like shouting at someone in person and not acceptable. Leave your caps key to use for words that you want to emphasize only.

It is acceptable for website heading to be in all caps, but not personal messages. All Caps is popular on some classified advertising because it is a good way to make your ad stand out although in business and personal communication it is not.

Therefore, it is bad “netiquette” to use all caps because it is unacceptable to yell at people in a civilized society or cyber-sphere. Do not digitally disrespect others by using all caps.

Some people may feel that using all capital letters is a good way to get their point across although in reality using small letters with a mix of capital letters is SO MUCH easier to read!

IF YOU WANT THE RECIPIENT OR VIEWER TO READ AND PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR EMAIL OR YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS ON THE INTERNET DON’T SHOUT!   USE YOUR CAPS KEY SPARINGLY!!  OTHER GREAT TOOLS ON YOUR KEYBOARD TO USE WHEN YOU WANT  TO MAKE YOUR POINT ARE THE BOLD AND ITALIC KEYS WHEN YOU WANT PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION WHEN COMPOSING AN EMAIL.  UNFORTUNATELY, USING BOLD AND ITALICS IS NOT A FUNCTION ON SOCIAL MEDIA.  WOULDN’T IT BE GREAT IF IT WERE?
